The heavyweights closed out the UFC 157 FX prelims and they did it in impressively boring fashion.

Heavyweight Brendan Schaub (9-3) picked up a long and boring decision over Lavar Johnson (17-7) to close out the FX prelims of UFC 157. The win improved Schaub's UFC record to 5-3 while Lavar dropped to 2-2.

the writing was on the wall for this fight as soon as Schaub hit his first takedown early in round one. The real surprise and disappointment was that Schaub couldn't take advantage of the position. Johnson has a notorious reputation of being weak off his back. But he was able to survive and even reverse Schaub a couple times. Despite that, Schaub was the clear winner when the final bell rang.

What was the high point of this fight?

There wasn't one, unless you appreciate ill advised and poorly executed gator rolls.

Where do they go from here?

It may have been an ugly win, but it was one that Schaub undoubtedly needed. He was on a 2-fight losing streak going into UFC 157, both ending with him unconscious. Now that he's got one back in the win column, he's going to have to bring excitement back into his game.

It's easy to say that Johnson should or could be cut after that fight, but I doubt the UFC goes that route. Sure, he's not the most talented HW, but the UFC loves standandbang fighters and that's definitely Lavar Johnson.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Please no.
