UFC 155 results recap: Erik Perez vs. Byron Bloodworth

Bantamweight Perez impressed for the 3rd time in his UFC 155 fight against Byron Bloodworth.

USA TODAY Sports

Erik Perez picked up a dominant and early finish(round 1, 3:50) over Byron Bloodworth on the FX prelims of UFC 155. This was Perez's (13-4) 3rd consecutive first round finish in as many UFC fights. Bloodworth (6-3) dropped his second straight fight and is now 0-2 as a UFC Bantamweight.

From the opening bell, the fight was all Perez. He dropped Bloodworth early with a devastating knee to the body from the clinch. He followed up with ground and pound and Byron was able to survive for a few minutes. It looked like he might be able to get up when he pushed Perez back, but instead "El Goyito" jumped in with a big right hand that rocked Bloodworth. It didn't take long after that for referee Kim Winslow to stop the fight.

What was the high point of the fight?

The knee that dropped Byron right off the bat. Perfect timing and execution by Perez.

Where do they go from here?

Three finishes in three fights is always impressive at the UFC level, but Perez has only done it against unranked competition so far. It's time for him to take the next step and get an opponent close to the top 25.

At 0-2 in the UFC, things aren't looking good for Bloodworth. Chances are he gets his walking papers. He'll need to pick up some regional wins before coming back to the big leagues.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Watch it now. It's a fun, quick fight and you'll want to see Bloodworth crumble after that knee.
