UFC 153 results recap: Gleison Tibau vs Francisco Trinaldo

At UFC 153, Gleison Tibau and Francisco Trinaldo put on an exciting fight on FX. Trinaldo gave it his all and scared Tibau in the second, but when the final bell rang Tibau took the unanimous decision.

Third up on the FX prelims for UFC 153 were Lightweights Gleison Tibau and Francisco Trinaldo. After 15 minutes, all three judges gave Tibau the decision. Tibau extends his UFC record to 10-6 (26-8 Overall). Trinaldo is now even with two fights for the company, but maintains a respectable career record of 11-2.

Gleison established himself long ago as the gatekeeper to the mid-tier of the 155 lb. division. So, Trinaldo knew going in that it wouldn't be easy to best the veteran grinder. Tibau proved his worth as he secured dominant position several times and threatened with submissions and strikes.

What was the high point of this fight?

The second round was great. Trinaldo came out with a fire in his eyes after losing the first. He did his best to give Tibau all he could through the full 5 minutes.

Where do they go from here?

Gleison will go where he always goes after a win. Right back to the middle tier of Lightweight. For his next bout, I suggest TUF Brazil vet and fellow UFC 153 winner Ronny Mariano Bezerra.

Coming off an impressive TKO win at UFC 147, this loss is a setback for "Massaranduba", but shouldn't be any worse. Losing to a proven veteran of Tibau's caliber is nothing to be ashamed of and he proved that he could hang at that level. He'll be back in a few months with another chance to put on a show.

Watch it now, later, or never?

Watch it later. Tibau and Trinaldo put on a good fight here, but check out the main card first.
