In the first fight of UFC On Fox 5 to go to the judges, Ramsey Nijem got the nod over Joe Proctor. Nijem (7-2) has now strung together 3 wins since getting KO'd by Tony Ferguson in the TUF 14 finals. The decision loss dropped Proctor (8-2) to 1-1 as a UFC fighter.
The three round tilt was a back and forth fight from bell to bell. Nijem took the lead in the first round with a push kick that sent Proctor to the ground. He pounced on him and landed good ground and pound to finish the round. Proctor had some success on the feet and a couple solid submission attempts. But it just wasn't enough to match Ramsey's wrestling and ground striking.
What was the high point of the fight?
The push kick was a great moment. It landed perfectly and set up Nijem to take control of the fight.
Where do they go from here?
Ramsey Nijem has been showing talent and consistent improvement since coming in second place in the TUF 14 tournament. With three consecutive wins now under his belt, it's time for him to get a bump in competition.
Even though he came up short Saturday night, Proctor stayed competitive throughout the bout. No doubt he'll get another chance to put one up in the win column.
Watch it now, later, or never?
You can wait on this one. It's a good fight, but there's more to be seen from Fox 5.
