Yesterday, former ‘champ-champ’ Conor McGregor told Firas Zahabi to shut his ‘pie’ after the Tristar head coach predicted Max Holloway would beat ‘The Notorious’ in a potential rematch.
“Hey firaz. Young man afraid to get in and fight, himself. Stop talking about me like you know me, you twerp. You are what age? Why are not in there yourself? Are you not up to it? You rent dorms and hit a clock for a living. Shut your pie, kid,” McGregor posted on Twitter.
It wasn’t long before UFC lightweight contender Al Iaquinta butted in and baited McGregor into a response.
McGregor, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, was happy to oblige.
Iaquinta wasn’t impressed, but the former title challenger is hoping McGregor has better insults up his sleeve in the lead-up to their non-existent fight.
The photo McGregor posted is a screengrab from Iaquinta’s UFC 223 post-fight interview with TMZ Sports, where ‘Raging Al’ called for a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Al dropped a unanimous decision to Khabib in the UFC 223 main event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York but rebounded with a win over Kevin Lee at UFC on FOX 31.
McGregor, 30, was submitted by Khabib in their highly anticipated championship bout at UFC 229. Both fighters currently await a disciplinary hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission for their chaotic post-fight brawl at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
