Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones set to meet with NAC on Jan. 29

Finally, a date is set.

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are expected to attend a disciplinary hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 29, over their post-fight fracas at UFC 229, according to MMA Fighting.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in the UFC 229 main event at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena but, rather than celebrate, ‘The Eagle’ leapt over the Octagon fence and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. McGregor, the former ‘champ-champ’, retaliated by attacking two of Nurmagomedov’s teammates, Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, inside the cage.

Both men are expected to be fined — and possibly suspended — by the NAC on Tuesday, although it’s possible the meeting could be pushed back to a later date.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda - Jon Jones’ positive drug test for trace amounts of oral Turinabol. Jones was originally expected to meet Alexander Gustafsson (who he went on to beat in the UFC 232 main event) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but the NAC refused to license the Jackson-Wink fighter after discovering the trace amounts of steroids in his system. In less than a week’s notice, the UFC moved the event from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, where the California State Athletic Commission agreed to license the three-time light heavyweight champ.

Jones will be hoping to clear his name at Tuesday’s meeting ahead of his proposed match-up with Anthony Smith. The 31-year-old is expected to defend his newly-acquired light heavyweight title against Smith in the UFC 235 main event, which is set to take place on March 2nd in Las Vegas. If the NAC decide to suspend Jones, however, the fight will fall through.
