Stipe Miocic was once deemed as the most successful UFC heavyweight champion when he racked up a total of three title defenses. His reign unfortunately came to an end when he faced Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 last July and lost via first-round knockout.

Miocic has been eager to reclaim the title, and had issues with the UFC’s booking of Cormier’s title fight against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 last November. Cormier, meanwhile, declared Miocic as his next challenger if his intended Brock Lesnar fight falls through for whatever reason.

Now that a new year has unfolded, Miocic is seemingly more focused at reclaiming the title. In a recent tweet he posted, the Ohio native called for his rematch to take place in a couple of months.

Cormier had repeatedly stated that he expects to be done with his fighting career by his 40th birthday on March 20th. If it were up to him, he fights Lesnar at UFC 235 on March 2nd then ride off into the sunset, but the WWE standout has yet to receive full clearance to fight again.

According to USADA, Lesnar would be eligible to compete by January 8th, 2019 if he had remained compliant with the UFC’s Anti-Doping policies.
