UFC 228 results: Tyron Woodley dominates, submits Darren Till to retain welterweight title

The UFC 228 main event concluded with Tyron Woodley successfully defending his welterweight belt with a second round D’arce choke on the challenger Darren Till. Woodley started quickly, blasting Till with a combo before shooting in for a takedown. Till remained vertical but gave up the double undercooks with his back to the fence. The referee brought the bout back to the center of the cage despite Woodley’s advantageous position. Back in open space, Till threw very little although he was moving forward.

Woodley dropped Till with a big bomb to open up the second round, and followed up with a barrage of ground strikes. Woodley continued to pour it on from the top, dropping all sorts of strikes on the challenger. Till managed to hang tough and stay in the fight, defending just enough for the referee to not step in. Just as the round was coming to an end, Woodley locked up a D’arce, forcing Till to tap out. After the bout, Woodley was awarded his black belt.
