It looks like Jon Jones may have woke up a sleeping bear. A few days ago, the former UFC light heavyweight champion and currently-suspended fighter did an interview with a Russian outlet where he referred to Bellator’s Chael Sonnen as “the worst trash talker“. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Sonnen wasn’t so happy about that, and decided to turn to social media to - well, talk trash.
The American Gangster started off last night with some zingers about Jones’ troubled history with USADA that has led to long absences from the Octagon, and his driving-related issues:
Sonnen then let up for eight hours or so - only to continue with a few more in the wee hours of the morning, where he started in on Jones’ alleged drug use:
He wasn’t done yet though. There have been a few more today (so far), and he took them in the direction of his Chael’s opponent, the legendary Fedor Emelianenko:
Jones is currently on the sidelines awaiting a decision from USADA on his UFC 214 suspension following a positive test for turinabol. Sonnen is scheduled to face off with Emelianenko in the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix on October 13th.
