When Conor McGregor’s UFC 223 bus attack last April took place, company president Dana White branded it as a “criminal, disgusting” act that “made him sick.” The UFC, however, has had no problems including videos of the attack into their promotional materials to build up UFC 229.
So when a reporter asked White during the UFC 229 press conference on Thursday if it was difficult for the company to include these clips into the promo videos, the UFC executive had this to say.
“Not tough at all,” White said. “It’s part of the storyline. It is what it is. There’s been other situations where things have happened leading up to a fight and you play the story the way that the story played out.”
When McGregor was asked if the video should have been part of the promos, he simply answered with a “no comment.” He gave the same line of indirect response when prodded about what was going through his mind as he had the dolly on his hand which he ended up throwing onto the bus window that had major repercussions.
“I just thank the lord Jesus Christ that that man (Khabib) had not got the balls to step foot off that bus, or that the bus door did not open,” McGregor said. “Because if that bus door would have opened, this man would be dead right now. He would be in a box, and I would be in a cell. And we would not have this great fight ahead of us.”
“There are many things I can speak on about that incident, and about the lead-up and about my emotions and things like that. But, there are still many ongoing situations involved in it.”
McGregor will be challenging Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 229 on October 6th in Las Vegas.
