District attorney attempts to increase bail in Nick Diaz domestic violence case

Nick Diaz is still in a lot of trouble, but it seems that the judge in his domestic violence case might be seeing his side of things. Diaz, who allegedly assaulted a woman on May 24th in Las Vegas, had a court date today (which he was not required to attend, and did not) and it seems that the District Attorney isn’t happy with Diaz’s current bail conditions.

According to a report from MMA Junkie, the DA put forward an official criminal complaint against the elder Diaz brother and asked that his bail be increased to $100,000. He is currently free on bail on an $18,000 bond.

In response, Diaz’s attorney stated that the complainants stated injuries and her story don’t match up.

The judge, Amy Chelini, sided with the Diaz camp and said there was no reason to raise the bail level. And if there were any issues with his profession having an effect on things, she wasn’t going to hear them:

“I don’t care. He’s going to be treated the same way everybody else is.”

She also appeared to agree with Diaz’s lawyer in regards to the inconsistencies between injuries and story, and said that it would go to trial to prove the accusations.

Diaz is being charged with domestic battery by strangulation - a felony - and domestic battery. His next court date is on July 10th.
