Not too long after the fight’s announcement, Elizeu Zaleski was forced out of his bout against fellow knockout artist Li Jingliang, at UFC Beijing in November.
Per a report by MMA Fighting, the 31-year-old suffered a partial ligament tear in his right knee, but won’t need to undergo surgery and should start training again in three weeks.
Currently on a six-fight win streak, Elizeu Zaleski (20-5) scored two highlight reel knockout wins in his last couple of bouts, defeating Sean Strickland with a spinning wheel kick and Luigi Vendramini with a flying knee. The Brazilian hasn’t lost a fight a since his UFC debut, when he dropped a split decision to Nicolas Dalby, in May 2015.
So far, it’s unclear if Li Jingliang will remain on the card as a substitute was not announced yet.
Elizeu Zaleski was expected to meet Li Jingliang at UFC Fight Night 141, in Beijing, China, on November 24. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between contenders Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes. Alistair Overeem and Sergey Pavlovich will square off in the co-main event.
