Conor McGregor posts boxing sparring video at SBG Ireland

There seems to be a trend with Conor McGregor: Anything the Irishman says that is ridiculed usually ends up happening. The UFC lightweight champion has a way of manifesting the impossible into reality.

Dating back to 2015 when McGregor said he’d floor Jose Aldo in one round, ‘The Notorious’ was mocked and his comments were dismissed. At UFC 194, though, McGregor kept his word and knocked out Aldo in just thirteen seconds to win the featherweight title.

After capturing featherweight gold, McGregor promised to become the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion and, again, he was told a million and one reasons why that would never happen. The Dubliner ended up knocking out Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 and walked out of Madison Square Garden with the featherweight title on one shoulder and the lightweight belt on the other.

Now, as MMA’s biggest star, McGregor wants to conquer the boxing world by taking out pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his own ring. Although there’s still many obstacles to overcome, both parties are in informal negotiations and it’s looking like the bout could actually happen.

McGregor further teased at the mega-fight by posting a boxing sparring video on Instagram.

While McGregor has some of the best boxing in MMA, Floyd Mayweather is in a league of his own and has won 49 straight fights without a blemish on his record.
