Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler fought to an absolute classic of a brawl back in 2015. Lawler eventually came up victorious in that back and forth brawl, and MacDonald has recently stated that he believes the former champion was on performance enhancing drugs that night.

“I absolutely think he was on something when we fought,” MacDonald said earlier in the month.

MacDonald says the way he never lost power and endurance along with his quick recovery time in the bout made him suspicious. Lawler has since responded to the accusations in an interview with the TSN MMA Show.

“I think he’s trying to figure out why things happened the way they happened and he’s finding a different way to cope with it,” Lawler said.

“I mean, I was getting hurt, I got stung by a head kick and he cut my lip with an elbow, but all you have in the end is your will to fight.”

For what it’s worth, both Lawler and MacDonald weren’t tested by USADA for their July 2015 bout. Since then, Lawler has been tested 21 times with not a single failure in that stretch.
