Video: Joe Rogan knocks out boxing opponent in virtual reality

Joe Rogan put his martial arts skills to the test yesterday, but not in the way you might think.

Rogan, a longtime UFC color commentator and former taekwondo practitioner, entered the realm of virtual reality to try out a boxing game on Valve's HTC Vive.

The 48-year-old uploaded a video of his experience to Instagram.

"Virtual reality is the shit! I was at @duncantrussell's house yesterday for his awesome podcast and he indoctrinated me into the world of virtual reality with his HTC VIVE. This is me spazzing out playing a boxing game. There's a bunch of archery games too and one of them I played until my arms were sore. The experience is incredible and the archery game was probably the most fun I've ever had playing a video game," Rogan said.

Rogan is an avid gaming fan, who admitted to being addicted to First Person Shooter games such as Quake in the past, and has featured professional eSports players on his podcast.

Virtual reality devices such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift recently hit the market and the technology looks set to revolutionise the gaming and media industry. Sony will be releasing their own VR headset -- Project Morpheus -- for the PlayStation 4 on October 13.

Rogan will be present for the highly anticipated UFC 202 pay-per-view featuring Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. The welterweight rematch takes place on August 20 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
