Brock Lesnar isn't the only thing making its return to the scene. Bloody Elbow's staff is starting your work week off with a roundtable on UFC busts. We've done this before, but then Alistair Overeem made us look like jackasses. That hasn't deterred us, so we're going to do it again, but with a different fighter whose disappointing run looks irreversible!
Hector Lombard just about had Dan Henderson KO'd at UFC 199, then Hendo head kicked and elbowed Lombard until he was counting sheep in his sleep. Lombard is 3-4 (1 NC) and has a failed drug test during his UFC tenure. He's 38 and likely never going to factor at 170 or 185.
With that in mind, does Lombard now take the cake and become the biggest bust in UFC history? Mirko Cro Cop is always the default option, but lest we forget the details on Lombard's original contract when he joined the UFC from Bellator. UFC 149 happened and that was the inauspicious start to a thoroughly underwhelming Octagon career. At least Cro Cop had the decency to lose spectacularly in his 2nd UFC fight, where as Lombard's bouts with Tim Boetsch and Yushin Okami were not memorable. Granted, at least Lombard had meaningful wins, whereas Cro Cop never beat a relevant contender (at the time) in any of his UFC fights.
Anyway, here's the BE roundtable to debate whether or not Lombard has surpassed Cro Cop as the UFC's worst ever big-name signing. You can participate in the comments section while watching the roundtable embed at the bottom of this text.
