Jones no longer interested in heavyweight; wants DC, Gustafsson and Rumble

Jon Jones has flirted with a move up to heavyweight in the past but appears to have lost his interest as he prepares for Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.

'Bones', 28, is considered the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the sport and wants to forever etch his name into the history books with an unparalleled light heavyweight run.

Speaking to MMA Junkie recently, Jones said he longer has the desire to compete at heavyweight and plans to improve his diet regime as he gets older.

"To be honest with you, heavyweight really doesn't really seem as appealing to me as it once did," he said. "I'm almost 30 now, and I'm not really having any more growth spurts," Jones said. "This is pretty much the size I'm going to be, and it's so easy for me to make light heavyweight.

"As I get older, and as I mature and take things more seriously - you know, diet and everything - it's become easier for me to maintain, and I've never missed weight."

The Rochester-born fighter will look to reclaim the official light heavyweight belt he lost when he was suspended for a hit-and-run incident last year. He takes on 'DC' in UFC 200's main event and will look to re-establish himself as the greatest 205-pound champion in the sport.

When he gets past Cormier, Jones said he also wants to rematch Alexander Gustafsson and defend his title against LHW wrecking machine Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson.

"I would love to rematch Gustafsson at some point," Jones said. "Anthony Johnson is obviously a fight that I need to get out of the way. Beating Daniel Cormier again is huge for my legacy. But really, just those three names, Cormier, Gustafsson and Johnson, are the guys I want to fight again the most, and that's it. That's as far as my eyes can see right now."

The Jackson-Wink product beat Gustafsson in a thrilling back-and-forth affair at UFC 165, but many fans felt 'The Mauler' was the rightful winner. Johnson, who knocked out Gustafsson but lost to Cormier at UFC 187, is considered one of the most devastating fighters in the light heavyweight division. The 32-year-old is on a two-fight KO streak but recently pulled out of his UFC on FOX 20 main event slot with Glover Teixeira.

Jones vs. Cormier II, which headlines the blockbuster UFC 200 event, takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 9.
