Tommy Toehold breaks down UFC 204

UFC 204 is just hours away now, and history is in the making, on multiple fronts. Michael Bisping will either defend his belt, or see it snatched from his grasp at the hand of his arch nemesis, Dan Henderson. Now, Michael and Dan don’t actually have much ill will toward each other, but the champ is definitely out to right a wrong, and this particular wrong is an egregious one that’s been sticking in his craw for more than seven years.

Henderson will also be bidding farewell to his career and a sport filled with loyal fans of the two-time Olympian. It’s a decision he made months ago, and one he says he’ll be following through with, win or lose. Of course, he prefers to go out on the highest note, with a belt that has eluded him his entire UFC career.

The rest of the card is serviceable enough, but when stacked up against the nostalgia and history of the main event, it sort of pales by comparison. To liven up this somber, almost melancholy atmosphere I’ve created for you all, Bloody Elbow content partner, Thomas J. Toehold, Esquire will be providing a bottom-to-top breakdown of UFC 204.

Here’s a transcript of one of his choices from the card:

At Number 3 is Michael Bisping. Much like the situation with Gegard, Michael is fighting a diminished opponent with a chin that has taken a lot of damage as of late. With nearly double the output rate of Henderson, it’s only a matter of time before he puts the lights out, and it will happen fast. Bisping retains his belt.
