UFC 204 is about to go down, live from England’s Manchester Arena. The main event sees Manchester’s own middleweight champ Michael Bisping take on 13th ranked challenger Dan Henderson. For Bisping, defeating Hendo would exorcise the demons that remained after that H-Bomb detonated over seven years ago. For Henderson, victory would at last add a UFC championship to his already impressive collection of titles, completing the closest thing we have in MMA to a triple-crown (UFC, Pride, Strikeforce).
The rest of the pay-per-view card is hit-and-miss as far as big names and highly anticipated match-ups. The co-main is an undeniable hit, which pits future Hall-of-Famer Vitor Belfort against Gegard Mousasi in match that may snag the winner a middleweight title shot in the very near future. Also on the PPV is 5th ranked light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux marching into hostile territory to face Londoner, Jimi Manuwa. Prior to that, Stefan Struve and Daniel Omielanczuk go at it in the always bizarre heavyweight division. To open the PPV, top featherweight prospect Mirsad Bektic will be tested by late replacement Russell Doane.
The four-fight preliminary card on Fox Sports 1 begins at 8:00PM ET. The FS1 card features an England versus the world theme and is headlined with Brad Pickett welcoming fellow bantamweight Iuri Alcantara to the British Isles. Before that, Davey Grant clashes with Damian Stasiak, also in the bantamweight division, and Leon Edwards squares off with Albert Tumenov at 170lbs. The FS1 card opener sees touted British prospect Marc Diakiese step in on short notice to fight Lukasz Sajewski.
As always the night kicks off with the UFC Fight Pass' early prelims, which tonight begin at 7:00PM ET. The featured Fight Pass prelim has welterweight Danny Roberts defending home soil versus the controversial Floridian Mike Perry. Also on tap is an all-Brazilian lightweight affair between Leonardo Santos and Adriano Martins.
