Matt Mitrione may not be in the UFC anymore, but the newly-signed Bellator contender has beef with a certain UFC light heavyweight - Jon Jones.
‘Meathead’ kicked things off on Twitter, mocking Jones for his failed UFC 182 drug test for cocaine.
‘Bones’ took the bait, and things soon escalated to a personal war of words between the two fighters.
Jones also tested positive for clomiphene and letrozole in July and was removed from his championship rematch with Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. The former pound-for-pound #1 will face hearings with the United States Anti-Doping Agency and the Nevada Athletic Commission later this year.
Jones has denied knowingly using any performance-enhancing drugs and his attorney, Howard Jacobs, says the USADA have confirmed that the results stem from his use of a tainted supplement.
Mitrione, 38, signed with Bellator MMA earlier this year and has gone 2-0 in the promotion. The heavyweight competitor knocked out Carl Seumanutafa in his Bellator debut and TKO’d Oli Thompson the following month.
