The Korean Zombie is back. Chan Sung Jung, one of the most exciting fighters in the history of the featherweight division in the WEC and UFC, is finally making his return to the UFC after more than three years. Jung, who was forced to put his career aside due to military obligations in South Korea, took to Facebook to announce his return. And he has a big-name opponent in mind (transcription via MMA Fighting):
"For the past six months, there's a fighter that I've been wanting to fight: B.J. Penn. When the B.J. Penn (vs. Ricardo) Lamas fight was announced, I thought I missed my chance. But, then I heard that B.J. Penn had a rib injury, so I kind of felt like maybe it was an opportunity for me. It would be great timing if B.J. Penn and I were ready to come back at the same time.
"Since he was at lightweight before, I never really thought about fighting him that much. But when he came down to featherweight, I would think that all of the fighters in the division would have liked to fight him. I'm one of them. Since I'm making my comeback, and B.J. is going to be coming back as well, I'd really like a chance to fight him."
Jung (14-4, 3-1 UFC) last stepped into the cage on August 3rd, 2013, when he faced Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title. He lost in the fourth round when he dislocated his shoulder.
He’s still only 29, so there’s plenty of time for him to make some noise upon his comeback. I was always a big fan of KZ’s, so I’m looking forward to it.
