Aldo: White told me to stay quiet on union talk to get 'bigger slice' of the cake

Jose Aldo isn't done lighting fire to the UFC just yet. After asking for his release following the booking of Conor McGregor against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, he has had a lot to say about the organization that he believes has betrayed him. He has stated he will go after them in court to get released, and even said that he would take a dive to fulfill the contract if need be.

Now, he has turned his attention towards the lack a fighter's union.

When speaking to MMA Fighting, Aldo claimed that UFC president Dana White encouraged him to not talk about the issue because he would get more out of the lack of a union:

"Not only now that I’m the one being affected, but I always talked about it and defended better things for Brazilian athletes. In a conversation, Dana himself came and told me not to take anyone’s sides because the cake would be split the same for everyone, but I could get a bigger slice if I stayed quiet."

...

"Today, they pay two, five, 10 thousand to fight in the UFC. This class is f**king disunited. It would be completely different for Brazilians if we were more united, not only in MMA."

Aldo has spoken out in favor of an MMA union in the past, something White and the Fertittas didn't seem interested in. The new owners might have a different view of things, though that seems unlikely. For now, Aldo will just keep talking in an attempt to separate himself from the UFC.
