Jessica Andrade has looked fantastic since moving down to the UFC’s women’s 115 lbs division. She took apart former title challenger Jessica Penne in June, then submitted Joanne Calderwood to open up last month’s UFC 203 main card. A title shot is within touching distance for the Brazilian, and at a recent Q&A session in Brazil, Andrade took aim at the reigning champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk. (Transcription via MMA Fighting)
"Joanna’s weak spot is Jessica Andrade," Andrade said. "In her last fight against ‘Claudinha’ (Gadelha), we could see that Joanna has a weak chin. The other girls are scared to trade with her. I’m not scared. I’ll go there to knock her out."
Andrade did compliment Jedrzejczyk’s overall skill set, except for her punching power, which she also views as suspect.
"Joanna is a great athlete, has good grappling, good striking, a lot of cardio, but her punching power is weak," Andrade said. "I’ll do a great camp, get there well prepared. I’ll probably fight again before. I want to get well prepared to fight five rounds when the time comes.
Jedrzeczyk is set to defend her UFC title against Karolina Kowalkiewicz at next month’s UFC 205. It’s Joanna’s 4th defense of her belt, which she won by beating Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in march 2015. Andrade doesn’t have a fight scheduled, and is otherwise ranked #5 in the strawweight top 15.
