Josh Samman reportedly in coma in Florida

According to a report from the Tallahassee Democrat, UFC middleweight and Bloody Elbow writer Josh Samman is currently in a coma in Florida. The article states that he was found unresponsive alongside Troy Kirkingburg, a friend of his and the announcer for Josh's MMA promotion Combat Night. Kirkingburg was pronounced dead on arrival.

MMA Fighting reports that the UFC is aware of the situation and is speaking to his management.

Josh is just 28 years old. He started out in the Florida MMA scene, picking up nine wins before being brought onto the seventeenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. He made it to the semi-finals and was signed by the UFC, where he picked three straight wins and two performance of the night checks.

He also co-runs Combat Night, the biggest amateur MMA organization in the state of Florida, which has run over 50 successful events.

Besides being a great fighter, Josh is also a great writer. He has authored many great articles for this very site, and has also worked with FloCombat and contributed to the UFC's webpage as well. In addition to that, his autobiography "The Housekeeper" came out earlier this year, and is a great read.

On behalf of everyone from Bloody Elbow, we wish Josh a speedy recovery from this, and our thoughts go out to his family and friends in this trying time.
