UFC welterweight Nick Diaz's proposed settlement agreement is currently on the agenda of next week's Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) meeting. With that being said, his hearing may not actually end up taking place next week -- NSAC executive director Bob Bennett told MMAFighting.com that the meeting is set for Jan. 12, but is not set in stone, as of Thursday.

Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites for the third time following his UFC 183 loss to Anderson Silva last year. In September, the Stockton native was suspended for five-years and fined $165,000 by the commission.

The suspension caused outrage in the MMA community which led to a 'Free the People' White House petition later that month. Within 30 days, the petition reached its goal of 100,000 signatures, forcing a response from White House officials.

Following the petition's success, the NSAC said in an October statement that it was currently negotiating a settlement with Diaz and his legal team.
