On December 3rd, 2015 on ESPN's Mike & Mike radio show, UFC president Dana White made the following quote regarding the potential for an immediate rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey:
"I think that if we didn't make the rematch, me and [UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] should probably lose our promoters' license," White said on the morning ESPN radio show Mike & Mike. "Yeah, that fight's going to happen. I don't know when, but that's the fight that will happen."
Well, so much for that. Today, Dana White told UFC Tonight that Holm will take another fight before a Rousey rematch can be made.
White did not reveal any details on Holm's opponent, but the presumptive favorite is Miesha Tate, who is a perfect 4-0 since losing her title bout vs. Rousey at UFC 168. Recently, Holm signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, as she and her team have been angling to fight sooner rather than wait for Rousey to heal up for an immediate rematch.
In the same UFC Tonight segment, White didn't get into specifics over Rousey's future, but did say that we will see her fight again.
