WSOF names eight competitors for November one-night lightweight tournament

The field is set for World Series of Fighting's one-night lightweight tournament. The winner gets a shot at lightweight champ Justin Gaethje. The event will go down November 20th in Phoenix, and will feature some names you likely know. Here's the list of competitors:

Luis Palomino
Brian Foster
Mike Ricci
Islam Mamedov
Brian Cobb
Jorge Patino
Joao Zeferino
Rich Patishnock

Palomino (23-11) has had two shots at Gaethje already, coming up short in both but putting on entertaining fights in each contest. Foster (23-7) is a UFC vet that is 1-1 in WSOF. The loss came at welterweight to Jake Shields. Ricci (10-4) was a TUF finalist who most recently fought for Titan FC, but had some weight issues. Mamedov (12-1) picked up a TKO win in his only WSOF appearance to date.

Cobb (20-8) hasn't competed since a 2013 loss to Gaethje. Patino (36-15) has been a pro for 20 years, and is 1-1 in WSOF. His loss came to Palomino. Zeferino (18-6) has won five bouts in a row since being released by the UFC in September 2013. Patishnock (6-2) is 2-1 in WSOF and like Cobb, hasn't competed since a loss to Gaethje long ago.

The event takes place in the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix. The opening-round matchups and rules will be announced soon according to the organization.
