On Saturday, the boxing world will turn its attention to The Big Apple, where WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) will battle IBF champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) in a belt unification matchup between two brutal KO artists on HBO PPV. Golovkin has stopped his last 20 opponents, while Lemieux has won 9 straight after suffering back-to-back losses in 2011. The winner of this fight could potentially face the winner of November's Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez showdown.
In the build-up to Golovkin vs. Lemieux, the two men, as well as trainers Abel Sanchez (Golovkin) and Mark Ramsay (Lemieux), engaged in a roundtable interview with HBO'x Max Kellerman in a new episode of "Face Off." It's shot in a dark room with a bunch of chairs and it looks like a life-and-death poker game is about to break out. You can watch the full video at the top of the page.
Bloody Elbow will have extensive coverage of Golovkin vs. Lemieux all week long, leading up to our live play-by-play of the HBO PPV event ($59.95 HD/$49.95 SD) on Saturday, October 17th from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York.
