Metamoris might just be the most anticipated Brazilian Jiu-jitsu events around these days, and with good reason. Their system of submission only super fights give viewers a different perspective on the martial art, rather than the drawn out point systems of traditional tournaments. The next installment, Metamoris 4, takes place this Saturday, but one of the major names scheduled to compete on the 5 bout card, retired UFC superstar, Chael Sonnen, may not be able to engage in his matchagainst grappling ace, Andre Galvao..
Since his woes with the Nevada athletic commission from the last month don't appear to be over (he faces a $250K fine if he continues with his scheduled match), he has reached out to friend, former teammate and UFC Hall of Famer, Randy Couture to take his place if he's forced to resign his spot on the card. Sherdog reports that Chael approached Randy a tad bit too late. Couture's manager, Sam Spira says,
If there had been more time, and no pending obligations, it might have happened.
Couture's previous obligations barring him from taking Sonnen's spot are an Expendables 3 press junket on Saturday and Sunday and the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Monday - as well a Gym Rescue premiere on Sunday for the SPIKE network. As always, Bloody Elbow will keep our readers up to date with more on Metamoris 4 and any athlete replacements when more information becomes available.
