Any time you hear Chan Sung Jung and injury in the same sentence, it's bad news. MMA-in-Asia reports that the Korean Zombie has been pulled from his upcoming bout with Akira Corassani at UFC Fight Night Stockholm. Jung was planning to make his comeback after just over a year on the sidelines, following a shoulder dislocation at the hands of Jose Aldo in their title fight last year. Fortunately, it doesn't sound like Jung will be spending too much time on the sidelines, as this was reportedly just a strain requiring four weeks of rehab. MMA Fighting spoke to Chan Sung's manager Brian Rhee:
"Yes, unfortunately, [Jung] strained the shoulder that he dislocated in the Aldo fight," Rhee said. "No structural damage, he just has to do rehab for four weeks, then the doctors will reevaluate."
In the meantime, the search for a replacement is on. No new fight was announced for Akira Corassani in conjunction with Chan Sung's injury, but I'd be surprised if the UFC scrapped the bout altogether given that it's more than a month away in a division with a lot of quality action fighters. Stay tuned for more bout updates.
