After weeks of people claiming they do not know where Paige VanZant is, including Urijah Faber of Team Alpha Male where she trained, the young strawweight finally came out and revealed that she had stepped aside from training camp to deal with an injury she sustained recently.
VanZant suffered a spinal injury which she is currently rehabbing with ‘intense physical therapy' but does not have insurance coverage in California, which is why she is cautious about resuming her training camp anytime soon.
VanZant took to Facebook to reveal the details behind her sudden disappearance:
"Dear fans I know quite a few of you are wondering why I am not in my training camp. I left Sacramento to come back to my home state and have been in intense physical therapy from a spine injury. I do not have insurance coverage in California and I have not been giving the okay to train at this time. I am working hard to get better. Prayers up for a good recovery. Thank you so much for all your kind words it is such a blessing to have such an amazing team behind me."
The 20-year-old did not mention her upcoming UFC debut against Kailin Curran, which is scheduled to take place at the UFC's first trip to Halifax on Oct. 4. Considering VanZant appears to be dealing with a spinal injury and is not cleared to train, it seems highly unlikely that she will be able to fight on that particular date.
