The ratings are in for Saturday's UFC Fight Night: Brazil card and they're a mixture of good and bad news. Actually, it's mostly bad with a little bit of good mixed in.
As Dave Meltzer explained at MMA Fighting, "[the card] has the dubious distinction of being the least-watched Saturday night live show with national distribution since the company's big television breakthrough in 2005."
The main card only drew an average of 609,000 viewers. Normally the progression of a UFC event sees a major increase from prelims to main card with a big spike for the main event. This card was astonishingly flat with the prelims drawing 560,000 viewers. That increase of under 50,000 viewers is near unheard of for this type of event.
There also was no significant spike to speak of for the main event of Stipe Miocic's demolition of Fabio Maldonado.
This could simply be a case of lacking starpower for a card that rates near the very bottom of the UFC's history for starpower and importance.
