Alistair Overeem has officially signed with a new management team - the same one, in fact, that features Jon Jones on the client roster.

The former Strikeforce and K-1 champion revealed on Thursday that he has joined Malki Kawa's First Round Management team, and was excited to see what his new team can accomplish for him.

"I'm excited to announce this new deal with Malki Kawa and First Round Management," Overeem stated. "Malki has built one of the best management companies in MMA, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together."

This is not the only recent change that Overeem has made to his professional career, as he recently left the Blackzilians and found his new home at the Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA team in New Mexico, where he currently trains full-time.

Kawa, who is the CEO of the management team, believes the Overeem acquisition was a vital one, as he is one of the most accomplished heavyweights active in MMA.

"Alistair Overeem is one of the most accomplished heavyweight fighters in all of MMA," Kawa stated. "I'm excited to bring him on to the First Round Management team and show him exactly what we can provide an athlete of his stature."

Overeem is 2-2 since joining the UFC roster and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Frank Mir in his last octagon outing at UFC 169. While he was initially slotted to face Junior dos Santos, he would withdraw form the bout to undergo elbow surgery. He stated several weeks ago that he would be prepared to make his return from the sidelines in September.
