Since the UFC has decided to produce 50+ events in 2014, there is a remarkable amount of fighter signings and new match-ups being set up throughout any given week. Many of these new signings are for match-ups that take place on the undercard, or on the Fight Pass portion of a PPV, so we are going to continue with a new weekly (or bi-weekly if needed) series of articles where we take a brief look at each and every bout booked by the promotion in one place.
The lone women's fight on the UFC 174 fight card in Vancouver was faced with several changes, the last of which took place just over a week before the event. Milana Dudieva withdrew from her bout against Valerie Letourneau, leaving Elizabeth Phillips as the late replacement.
UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens
Joe Ellenberger and RFA veteran Johnny Case is scheduled to take place on June 28 in San Antonio, Texas. Ellenberger was originally expected to meet Francisco Trevino at the event, but Trevino would later withdraw. Both fighters will be making their UFC debuts.
After Santiago Ponzinibbio was forced to withdraw from his welterweight fight with Illdemar Alcantara, the UFC has added American Kenny Robertson as a replacement on the Las Vegas fight card. Robertson originally was slotted against Zak Cummings next month in Altanta, but Cummings was later moved into a co-main event slot against Gunnar Nelson on the Dublin fight card.
A middleweight match-up between Derek Brunson and Lorenz Larkin is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, although it is unclear what position the fight will take n the card. Apart from that, a lightweight contest between Bobby Green and Abel Trujillo was added on Monday afternoon. The event will also feature the debut of Walmir Lazaro, who will be slotted against James Vick on the preliminary portion of the card.
