Cat Zingano hopes to be fight Ronda Rousey at the ‘end of the summer’

UFC title contender "Alpha" Cat Zingano has been dealt some extraordinary bad luck over the past year, yet has revealed that she expects to be fit to return to the octagon by the "end of the summer."

"I think Ronda said something about fighting at the end of the summer." Zingano told Inside MMA. "I think that sounds pretty good to me too. When the time comes, I am going to be ready. I feel strong and am definitely going to come out ready to fight."

With rumours running rampant regarding former Strikeforce featherweight champ Gina Carano's potential return to MMA, it is unclear who will get the next shot at the UFC women's bantamweight champion. While Zingano considers herself to be the top contender, she does not rule out potential fights with other competitiors in the division, or even a match-up against the current Invicta featherweight champion Cris 'Cyborg' Justino.

"The thing is, I am here to fight. Yes, I obviously want to beat the best and fight everybody, but when it comes down to it, I was to fight Cyborg. I want to fight everyone there is in that weight division. It is about the fights. It is not about who [I fight]. It is about going out there and doing what I love."

The 31-year-old Zingano is preparing for a final check-up on her knees but believes she will be fit to compete at some point during the summer.

"Mid-to-late summer. Something like that sounds really good to me."
