Days after having his name linked to a fight at UFC 175 with Daniel Cormier, Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante has been tied to another fight. This time Cavalcante's name has been linked to a UFC 174 bout against Ryan Bader.
If the fight does come to be, Bader (16-4) will enter the bout looking to string together two consecutive wins for the first time in more than two years. Bader defeated Jason Brilz at UFC 139 and followed that with a win over Quinton Jackson at UFC 144. Since then Bader has alternated wins and losses, going 2-2. His last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Perosh in December 2013.
Cavalcante (12-4-0-1), a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion debuted with the UFC in June 2013, losing that fight against Thiago Silva by first round knockout. He followed that loss with a first round submission victory over Igor Pokrajac in November.
Both Bader and Cavalcante are ranked in the top 15 in the UFC's light heavyweight division. Bader is ranked No. 9, while Cavalcante is ranked No. 13.
UFC 174 will take place on June 14. The event is scheduled for Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.
News of the potential fight between Bader and Cavalcante was first reported by UFC Tonight.
