UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi: Illness forces cancellation of Andrew Craig vs. Chris Camozzi

USA TODAY Sports

Some unfortunate news has come in regarding the scheduled UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi bout between middleweights Chris Camozzi and Andrew Craig. Hours before today's weigh-in, Camozzi posted on Twitter that Craig is sick and unable to compete on Friday's preliminary card:

MMA Junkie reported that Craig has tonsillitis, which prompted this late cancellation. Craig (9-2) was coming off a submission loss to Luke Barnatt in October, while Camozzi (19-7) was trying to snap the first two-fight losing skid of his career.

Both men have been paid their "show" money.

This leaves tomorrow's card with just 8 fights, which is tied with the TUF China Finale for the fewest bouts on a UFC event this year. The start time has been moved up from 11:50 AM ET to 12:15 PM ET/9:15 AM PT, as Jim Alers fights Alan Omer in the preliminary card opener.
