Uriah Hall vs. Thiago Santos added to UFC 175

Well, this is a matchup I didn't see coming. TUF 17 finalist Uriah Hall is booked for his next fight, but against a guy that I thought was dropping to welterweight. That man would be Thiago Santos, and the bout will take place at UFC 175 on July 6th in Las Vegas. The news was confirmed by the UFC News twitter account.

Hall (8-4) picked up his first win in the UFC by stopping Chris Leben at UFC 168 in December. Before that, he lost the TUF final to Kelvin Gastelum and dropped a split decision to John Howard. Hall, known for his flashy knockouts on the show, had been a disappointment and was in danger of being cut before the win over Leben.

Santos (9-2) is 1-1 in the UFC thus far, dropping his debut to Cezar Ferreira but rebounding with a big TKO win over Ronny Markes last month at UFC Fight Night: Natal. As mentioned above, he seems more suited to the 170-pound division but will apparently continue to ply his trade at middleweight.

The bout is expected to take place on the preliminary card of the event, which will be headlined by a UFC middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida.
