Could there be a day where UFC fighters are wearing a standard uniform on the way to the octagon? According to Dana White that is the plan, though it's something they're still working on and nothing is finalized. Bleacher Report's Jeremy Botter discussed what those plans could entail:
According to multiple sources, the deal is with a major apparel company. Our sources also said the uniform will be head to toe—including fight shorts, walkout shirt and hats—and every fighter in the UFC will wear it.
Bleacher Report's sources also noted that several spaces on the shorts and shirt will be reserved for fighters and managers to sell their own sponsorships. But outside of those spots, the uniforms will consist mostly of UFC-branded product and the brand of the apparel company.
Fighters have been complaining about a lack of sponsor money for a while now, and it is assumed that this is what White was talking about in December as a solution for those woes. It would definitely work as another advertising tool for the company as well, since their logo would be all over the gear.
The idea might sound a little silly at first glance, but I actually think it will work well overall. Hopefully the fighters get a piece of that particular pie though, since it will limit their ability to promote other sponsors.
