Texas Athletic Commission changes Eye vs. Kaufman to 'No Contest' without explanation

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

Recently Sarah Kaufman tweeted out a request to fill in against Jessica Andrade after Julianna Pena's injury. She didn't get the slot, but included in the Tweet was the suggestion that the Texas Athletic Commission 'owed her one.' Apparently they felt like they did too. Sherdog.com reports that they were contacted on Friday by Jerri Dix, a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) official and told to change their record of the fight to 'no contest' no reason for the change was given.

As one of the few states that rarely tests fighters for performance enhancing substances, I doubt that there was any pharmaceutical foul play at work here.It seems most likely that there might have been a scoring error on the night of the fight... one that went unrecognized (or perhaps merely unpublished) for nearly four months. Attempts have been made to reach TDLR officials for an explanation, but as of yet no further information is available. Considering that mistakes of this nature are usually discovered and corrected within a week of their occurrence it seems exceptionally strange that this one would have taken so long. Stay tuned as we will be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
