Four months after letting Mark Fischer go, the UFC has appointed a new Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Asia. Joining the Zuffa ranks is Ken Berger, a 49-year-old who's resume includes several years of holding top positions at companies such as sports agency SMJ, ISL Marketing, and IMG.
"The UFC welcomes a leader like Ken to drive increased brand growth in Asia and take the sport and the UFC to the next level", Cheif Global Officer Garry Cook said in the announcement, "The next twelve months will see UFC enter new markets, develop a more robust local roster of fighters and host several world class events in Asia and we are confident in the developments and successes that Ken will bring"
The UFC has promised to break through more markets in Asia, and it will be interesting to see how much of those goals will be achieved with Berger spearheading the charge in the continent. While the UFC has been dead set on entering mainland China, other new markets that are prime and ready for live events include the Philippines and South Korea.
