A potentially exciting lightweight fight has been verbally agreed to for UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento. Former TUF winner Mac Danzig will face off with bonus machine Joe Lauzon. The UFC tweeted the news last night:
Danzig (21-11-1) is coming off a knockout loss to Melvin Guillard at UFC on Fox 8 in July. It was his second loss in a row, and dropped his UFC record to 5-7 overall. He has been awarded four performance bonuses in his career.
Lauzon (22-9) has also lost two in a row, the last coming via unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 26. He is 9-6 in 15 UFC fights and has picked up a litany of bonuses along the way.
It's unclear if the bout will be targeted for the main card or not, but it's more likely that it will take place on the December 14th preliminary card. The event will be headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson.
