Yesterday, we reported that Chael Sonnen's ability to obtain a fighter's license in Massachusetts may be in jeopardy. The former challenger to the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight titles is scheduled to face Mauricio Rua in Boston, MA on August 17. However, a complaint from the UFC's longtime nemesis Unite Here caused the Massachusetts Boxing Commission to schedule a meeting for Sonnen on Thursday to discuss his licensure.
Shortly, after that meeting, Sonnen's manager spoke to media members assuring them that his client's license was no longer in danger. Steve Marocco reported it first on Twitter:
With that issue resolved, Sonnen and Rua will meet in the main event of the inaugural UFC on FS1 event. The show will take place at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The co-main event will feature Heavyweights Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem.
