UFC 166 is already filled with great fights from top to bottom, and another one has been added from the bantamweight division. Jason Floyd of The MMA Report has confirmed that Francisco Rivera will take on George Roop on October 19th in Houston, Texas.
Rivera (9-2, 1 NC) is arguably one of the hardest punchers in the division, and he showcased his hands in a TKO win over Edwin Figueroa at UFC 156. He also KO'd Roland Delorme at UFC 149, but that win was flipped to a no contest when Rivera failed his drug test.
Roop (14-9-1) has had an unlikely career resurgence at 135 lbs. The 6'1" veteran of both the WEC and UFC finished Brian Bowles at UFC 160, putting him at 2-0 in his bantamweight return after a one-off loss to Eddie Wineland in the WEC.
This fight will take place on the evening's preliminary card. The UFC 166 main card includes a heavyweight title fight trilogy between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, a co-main showdown between Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson, and Hector Lombard's welterweight debut vs. Nate Marquardt.
