The UFC Fight Night 27: Condit vs. Kampmann card got off to a frustrating start as an exciting Lightweight bout between Lightweights Abel Trujillo and Roger Bowling ended in a disappointing No Contest when Trujillo knocked out Bowling with an illegal knee to the face late in the second round.

The two had traded a lot of punches and had numerous exciting grappling exchanges in the nearly two full rounds of action. It was a very even fight with Bowling maybe having a slight advantage. Late in the second, Bowling was threatening with a rear naked choke attempt when Trujillo fought back to his feet and quickly dropped Bowling with a combination. It all went wrong as Trujillo went for the finish and, after landing a legal knee to the crouching Bowling's check, landed a second knee to the chin. The cage side doctor declared Bowling had been knocked out and Ref. Rob Hinds stopped the fight at 4:57 of Round 2.

In the second fight of the Facebook prelims, Welterweight UFC debutante Zak Cummings made short work of Ben Alloway, tapping him out with a D'arce choke in the first round. Cummings forced the clinch repeatedly and eventually Alloway was unable to stay out of trouble. Cummings repeatedly worked his front headlock and finally was able to transition to a lethal D'arce choke and got the tap out.
