White: Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler still on track

In the aftermath of UFC on Fox 8 in July, UFC president Dana White stated that he'd like to see welterweights Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler face off next. There hasn't been a fight announcement regarding the potential bout in the three weeks since then, but when White was asked about it after UFC Fight Night 26, he said it's still going forward:

"We like that fight. I think so, yeah."

He was asked when and where it would take place, but stated that they hadn't confirmed any of that yet. MacDonald (15-1) is coming off a lackluster win over Jake Ellenberger on the Fox 8 card, and has won five bouts in a row. Lawler (21-9, 1 NC) returned to the UFC after an eight-year absence at UFC on Fox 7 where he knocked out Josh Koscheck. He then knocked out late replacement Bobby Voelker on the Seattle Fox card, which led Dana to talking about the potential matchup in the first place.

Personally, I'd rather see Rory facing off with competition higher in the rankings after the win over Ellenberger and having Lawler fight a brawler. But I'm certainly not going to complain if this suspected bout does come to fruition.
