Doesn't take UFC president Dana White long to start turning lemons into lemonade. White declared at the UFC 162 post-fight press conference that the UFC lost a fortune in lucrative "super fights" featuring ex-Middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones or Welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre when Silva got KO'd by challenger Chris Weidman.
Now he's already seeing the bright side, telling the LA Times' Lance Pugmire:
MMA Junkie confirmed Pugmire's report by checking with UFC officials.
Of course White will have to overcome Silva's stated reluctance to rematch Weidman but he's ignoring Silva's post-fight comments.
"I guarantee you there's nothing more he wants than that rematch with Chris Weidman," White said at the post-fight presser following UFC 162.
If the UFC does manage to book Silva vs. Weidman 2 for UFC 168 in Las Vegas on December 28, they'll likely move Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate's women's Bantamweight title to the Super Bowl weekend show planned for February 1 in New Jersey.
