Kimura.se reports that the case for Reza Madadi is starting to look bleak. Prosecutors filed charges of grand larceny against the popular UFC fighter today, citing witness testimony, CCTV footage and technical analysis. Lab analysis was able to match fragments of glass from the Bottega Veneta store window to clothing found in Madadi's possession. For his part Madadi offered the following statement in defense:
I don't need the kick or the money. The only thing that could explain this is that i am the worlds biggest idiot, but I ain't. I was on the wrong place at the wrong time.
The items stolen in the robbery were valued at 1.7 million Swedish Kronor (270,000 USD). For comparison, Madadi's last UFC fight payout came to 550,000 Kronor (85,000 USD). His trial date is currently set for August 6th in the Stockholm district court. We'll be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
