Matt Mitrione and Brendan Schaub were supposed to settle their grudge match on the preliminary card of UFC on Fox 8 in Seattle next week. Mitrione pulled out with an injury and Schaub was consequently removed from the event. Instead of giving them separate fights, they've simply been re-booked for UFC 165 on September 21st in Toronto, Canada. Schaub tweeted the news first and UFC officials later confirmed it:
Mitrione (6-2) snapped his two fight losing streak by knocking out Phil De Fries in Stockholm this past April. After his KO win he came under fire (and was later suspended by the UFC) after verbally attacking Fallon Fox on The MMA Hour.
Schaub (9-3) ended his own two fight losing run by wrestling Lavar Johnson to a unanimous decision win at UFC 157. On June 9th he gained billions upon billions of fans around the world and in six other planets for his virtuoso grappling performance against Cyborg Abreu at Metamoris 2.
UFC 165 is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between new #1 pound-for-pound fighter Jon Jones against Sweden's Alexander Gustafsson.
