Francimar Barroso replaces injured Robert Drysdale at UFC 163

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

UFC newcomer Francimar Barroso has stepped up on short notice to fight Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 163 in Brazil. Barosso is a solid prospect sporting a 15-3 record and were it not for a loss to Baga Agaev in 2011 he would be undefeated since 2008.

Tatame had the news, after Robert Drysdale was forced out of his UFC debut with a reported staph infection. It should make for an interesting fight as both Edinaldo and Bodao like to strike, but possess entirely different ranges for doing so. At 6'7" Edinaldo is not only the tallest light heavyweight in the UFC, but one of the tallest fighters in the promotion at all. He's not a technical wizard standing, but his lanky frame allows him to generate a decent amount of power on the end of his strikes.

Bodao on the other hand, is a more of an athletic phenomenon. He's big and strong and looks the part of a great talent. He's also the author of one of the fastest head kick KO's you'll ever see. It will be interesting to see if he can get in on Oliveira and muscle him around in the clinch or work inside to land hard shots. UFC 163 takes place on August 3rd in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. It will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Chan Sung Jung.
